Pasadena Public Health Department is partnering with Luke Walker’s Barber and Beauty Care, 627 N. Fair Oaks Ave., and Alpha Kapa Alpha Sorority’s Eta Lambda Omega Chapter to provide COVID-19 vaccines at 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14.

Vaccines will be offered at no cost, and the clinic will be offering Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. People who get vaccinated at the clinic will receive a gift card for a future haircut or beauty service at Luke Walker’s valued at $25, while supplies last.

“The COVID-19 delta variant continues to spread, and anyone who is unvaccinated is at risk,” said Dr. Ying-Ying Goh, health officer and director of the Pasadena Public Health Department. “Thanks to partners like Luke Walker’s Barber and Beauty and Alpha Kapa Alpha, we are meeting the community where they are, and making the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines convenient and accessible.”

The seven-day average number of Pasadena cases has increased by over 620% since July 21, 2021. As of Wednesday, Pasadena is currently experiencing a seven-day average of 29.9 incident confirmed cases per day compared to 4.1 cases per day on July 1.

“At Luke Walker’s Barber and Beauty Care, we are here for our community and in doing our part to help diminish COVID-19 and ask everyone to get vaccinated,” states Patricia Walker, marketing manager.

“We are pleased to be able to support the partnership with local institutions like Luke Walker’s Barber and Beauty Care and the City of Pasadena to amplify the importance of vaccines and their availability from trusted sources in our community,” said Ashley Vickers, chapter president.

People age 12 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine. For more information and to register for upcoming clinics, visit MyTurn.ca.gov or www.cityofpasadena.net/public-health/covid-19-vaccine/#vaccination-sites. People under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and masks are required for everyone over age 2. People who are sick should stay home.
