Dolores Huerta joins Tim Robbins for Culver City talkback event
The Actors’ Gang Theater will host a special talkback event with Dolores Huerta, Founder and President of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, following the Friday, Aug. 6 performance of We Live On.
She will join Artistic Director Tim Robbins on a panel moderated by Mariana Da Silva. Da Silva is also co-founder of El Cine, a nonprofit dedicated to providing film education for the cost of a movie ticket to marginalized communities, predominantly Latinx.
We Live On, based on Hard Times by Studs Terkel, with additional text by Tim Robbins and the cast, is now in its world premiere through Sept. 4. This is a live virtual production that is presented in three parts. The music is by Cameron Dye and David Robbins. The world premiere features 30 accounts of the Great Depression, including those of Huerta, Dorothy Day, and Cesar Chavez.
Each part will present ten stories and aims to stand as a complete experience. People from anywhere around the world can also join an online prerecorded screening every Sunday, between through Sept. 5.
We Live On marks the first Actors’ Gang main stage production since the Culver City theater closed its doors in March of 2020.
