Metro B Line train fatally struck pedestrian in Downtown L.A.

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metro train Friday at the Pershing Square Station in downtown Los Angeles.

Firefighters and paramedics were sent to the 500 block of South Hill Street about 9:45 a.m., and the person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Information on the identity and gender of the fatally injured person was not immediately available.

The incident involved a train on the Metro B Line, formerly known as the Red Line, according to the LAFD and the Los Angeles Police Department.

Delays of up to 20 minutes were reported on trains on the B Line and also on the D Line, formerly known as the Purple Line, which are sharing a single track between Union Station and Westlake/MacArthur Park Station, according to Metro.
