The 10.6% rate was below the 17.9% rate in June 2020, when COVID-19 shut-down orders were in effect.

In Orange County, where seasonally adjusted numbers were not available, the June jobless rate was 6.4%, up from 5.9% in May.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.7% in June, the same rate as May but below the June 2020 rate of 14.1%. The comparable estimates for the nation were 5.9% in June, 5.8% in May and 11.1% in June 2020

According to the EDD, total nonfarm employment in Los Angeles County increased by 28,700 jobs between May and June to reach about 4.2 million. The leisure and hospitality sector led the way by adding 14,300 jobs.
