A man who was fatally struck by a vehicle on a Walnut street while riding a medical mobility scooter was identified by the coroner’s office Tuesday morning.

Edmund Saldivar was 68. No place of residence was noted on the Los Angeles County coroner’s office report.

The crash occurred about 4:35 p.m. Sunday in the area of Amar Road and Country Hollow Drive, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

A motorist told investigating deputies he realized he had hit something, pulled over and discovered the man’s body and scooter, Koerner said.

He told investigators the sun may have gotten in his eyes, Koerner said.

The case remained under investigation, he said.
