Citizens of Monrovia will once again get to enjoy movies in a theater with the grand opening of a “LOOK Dine-In Cinema” location at 410 S Myrtle Ave on July 15. Along with opening in Monrovia, LOOK Dine-In Cinema is also opening locations in Glendale and Downey as well.

Placed in the historic Old Town Monrovia, the new theater will be replacing the previous “Studio Movie Grill” which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy near the end of October 2020 due to the financial constraints brought from COVID-19 lockdowns.

Founder and CEO of Studio Movie Grill, Brian Shultz, announced following the bankruptcy decision that the company would be undergoing a “restructuring process.” That process has led to the development of LOOK Cinema, which Shultz is also credited for developing and founding.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to provide three more California communities with jobs that pay fair wages, and a space for each neighborhood to come together for great cinema experiences,” says company founder Brian Schultz. “I firmly believe in the magic of going to the theater so I hope that after a year of isolation that we start to see more and more communities going back to the movies.”

The new site is an 11-screen full-service, technology-first movie theater that incorporates a unique list of commodities. Listed on their website, food items such as handmade cocktails and unconventional theater meals like spicy tuna rolls will be available for purchase, along with essential movie snacks like popcorn and candy.

LOOK Dine-In Cinema provides a unique theater experience that focuses on both quality and creativity. While they provide a main focus on their “surround sound technology,” the company’s theaters also take pride in showing a wide range of films ranging from blockbuster films to independent movies.

There will be a special offer available throughout the first week of opening, with moviegoers being able to purchase preview tickets for $5 each. Additionally, they will also be selling menu items — besides alcoholic beverages — for 25% off throughout the first month of operation. And, for a limited time, customers can also book private auditorium rentals for up to 50 guests for $99.
