A man believed in his 30s was shot and killed Sunday in Compton.

The shooting was reported at 12:41 a.m. at Wilmington Avenue and Artesia Boulevard, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Deputies were called to respond to a traffic collision and they found the motorcyclist on the ground.

“It was discovered the male victim sustained gunshot wounds.,” Koerner said.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Koerner said.

Homicide detectives conducted a crime scene investigation, he said.

A description of the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle were not available and the weapon used was still outstanding, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

Anyone with information was asked to call homicide detectives at 323- 890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477). To issue an anonymous tip online, go to lacrimestoppers.org.
