Man killed in shooting near South Los Angeles, suspect wanted

A man was shot and killed in an unincorporated area near South Los Angeles, and the suspect was still on the loose Friday.

The shooting occurred about 7:50 p.m. Thursday in the 10600 block of Budlong Avenue, near Vermont Avenue, according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Deputies from the South Los Angeles Station responded to the location regarding a gunshot victim call. Upon their arrival, they found the unresponsive victim on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released. It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting.

Investigators believe there is one male suspect who shot the victim and fled the scene on foot, the LASD said. No further description was provided.
