Man killed in South LA shooting, 2nd victim, girl aged 8-10, stable

A man was killed and a girl wounded in a shooting in South Los Angeles, and the shooter was at large Wednesday morning.

The shooting occurred about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in the area of East 102nd and San Pedro streets, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez. The crime scene was not far from the Starlight Motel, according to KABC.

The man, described as in his 20’s, was shot multiple times, and a girl between eight to 10 years old received a gunshot wound to her arm, police said. According to CBS Los Angeles, the girl was riding her bike in the area and was unintentionally hit by stray fire.

The girl was hospitalized with stable vital signs.

The suspected shooter fled the scene before police arrived.

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting, and no further details were released.
