An 18-year-old man was fatally shot in a possible gang-related drive-by attack as he sat in a vehicle in the West Adams area of Los Angeles, and his killer remained at large Tuesday.

The shooting was reported about 9:45 p.m. Monday near 29th Street and Somerset Drive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Rayshawn Michael Speight, whose city of residence was unknown, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office and the LAPD.

According to police, one or more suspects in a gray BMW drove up to the location and opened fire, striking Speight, who was seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

No suspect description was available.
