

A woman struck and killed by a car while lying under a pile of blankets in a parking stall in Long Beach was unhoused, authorities said Thursday.
Jamie Gatewood was 39 years old and died from multiple blunt force injuries, the coroner’s office said. The death was determined to have been accidental.
The fatal incident happened Monday in a business parking lot in the 2500 block of Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach police reported.
The woman was hit by a 2010 Scion XB driven by a 27-year-old Los Angeles man. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, the LBPD reported.
Gatewood died at the scene.
