Manslaughter suspect in custody after barricade standoff in Covina

A manslaughter suspect that barricaded himself inside a Covina residence was taken into custody Wednesday morning.

Covina police called in the sheriff’s department’s SWAT unit and negotiators to help resolve the situation, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The barricade situation happened in the 200 block of Forestdale Avenue, the LASD reported.

The standoff began Tuesday afternoon, and the suspect was wanted for vehicular manslaughter, CBS2 reported.

Some nearby residents were evacuated but LASD reports the neighborhood is safe.

The investigation is continuing.
