A teenage girl in the San Gabriel Valley didn’t take too kindly to one furry visitor attempting to hop her backyard wall on Memorial Day.
A home surveillance video from Bradbury shows a bear and two cubs navigating their way across a wall and pausing before four dogs come rushing into frame. The largest of the dogs can be heard growling and barking before approaching the backyard intruder — the bear counters with a swipe at the dog. A yelp is heard and the dog retreats, right before 17-year-old Hailey Morinico sprints into frame and bodies the bear from the wall.
“My cousin Hailey (@bittersweet.brat) just fought a f*cking mama bear 🐻 and won!,” read an Instagram post from Stephanie Lopez Villalobos. “How’s your Memorial Day weekend?!”
According to KABC, Hailey left the encounter with a small scratch, and all of her dogs are okay.
