One person was killed when two vehicles crashed in a Carson intersection and one vehicle burst into flames, authorities said Tuesday.

The crash was reported at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Avalon Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau told City News Service.

The driver and sole occupant of the burned vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, Koerner said.

The other driver suffered minor injuries, he said.

Investigators were reviewing surveillance video to determine what led to the crash, Koerner said.

Avalon Boulevard was closed from University Drive to Elsmere Drive for several hours during the investigation, he said.
