

A person was killed Sunday morning during a vegetation fire at a homeless encampment along the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley.
The fire, on the northbound freeway at Lankershim Boulevard, was reported at 2:26 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
Firefighters dispatched to the location quickly put the fire out and discovered a person without vital signs, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department
A representative from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office was called to the scene at 3:12 a.m., the CHP said.
