The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Friday clarified a comment by Sheriff Alex Villanueva about where a woman recorded making racist comments to a deputy during a traffic stop was employed.

Villanueva said in an interview on Monday’s broadcast of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Fox News Channel the woman “claims to be a teacher, I understand at Southwest College where she teaches, I’m not too sure where.”

Los Angeles Southwest College, part of the Los Angeles Community College District, tweeted Tuesday that “this individual has not been employed at the college since 2017.”

The sheriff’s department released a statement Friday saying “although the person in the video identified themselves as a teacher, it should be noted they have not been employed with the Los Angeles Community College District since 2017.”

The woman was stopped by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department deputy on April 23 in San Dimas for using her cellphone while she was driving.

The deputy’s body camera captured the woman, who identified herself as a teacher, calling the deputy a murderer and a “Mexican racist.”

“You’re always going to be a Mexican,” the woman said in the video. “You’ll never be white, which is what you really want to be. You want to be white.”
