Man arrested after allegedly leading CHP on short chase through East LA

A man was taken into custody after leading California Highway patrol officers on a short pursuit in the East Los Angeles area.

CHP officers attempted to stop the man driving an older model Honda CR- V on the southbound right shoulder of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway and began pursuing him when he failed to yield, CBS2 reported.

The man eventually exited the freeway onto surface streets and stopped his car briefly to let a female passenger exit.

It was unknown if she was taken into custody by CHP officers.

The man drove recklessly through a neighborhood and eventually exited his vehicle at an intersection. He attempted to pass himself off as an uninvolved pedestrian and directed CHP officers to the abandoned vehicle, but was taken into custody just after 6 p.m. without further incident.

His name was not released.
