Arcadia Crime Blotters: Feb. 21–27

Feb. 21

At 6:38 p.m., an officer responded to the 600 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects cut through a steel gate and removed the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle. The suspects were described as two Hispanic males. They were seen driving a white utility truck. The investigation is ongoing.  

At 9:20 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department regarding a stolen vehicle incident that occurred in the 00 block of Flower Street. Sometime between Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, the victim’s GMC Sierra truck was stolen from a parking lot. There are no investigative leads as of the date of this report.

Feb. 22

At 8:18 a.m., an officer responded to Hugo Reid Elementary School, located at 1153 De Anza Place, regarding a commercial burglary report. An unknown suspect intentionally broke a lock to the school grounds and a window frame was found bent. It does not appear as if the suspect(s) entered the school. The investigation is ongoing. 

At 10:03 a.m., an officer responded to Brilliant Realty and Management Co., located at 145 E. Live Oak Ave., regarding a mail theft report. The officer discovered someone opened their mailboxes and possibly fled with one check. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 23

At 11:39 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of North Fifth Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed the suspect had entered the victim’s residence and was found as she was exiting a back window. The officers concluded the suspect, a 37-year-old female from Monrovia, has been linked to numerous Arcadia burglaries in recent weeks. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At 4:28 p.m., an officer took a report of fraud involving a resident of the 200 block of Las Tunas Drive. The officer determined that as an executor of an estate was closing the decedent’s accounts, it was found that several fraudulent cashier’s checks had been drawn from the accounts using a forged signature. The identity of the suspect is unknown as of March 2.

Feb. 24

At 8:18 a.m., an officer responded to a residence located in the 1200 block of Short Street regarding a vandalism report. The victim discovered his mailbox had been damaged sometime during the previous night. The investigation is pending a review of any relevant surveillance footage.

At 9:23 a.m., an officer responded to Draperies.com, located at 5500 Peck Road, regarding a theft from vehicle report. The reporting party stated that sometime during the previous evening, someone cut the exterior fence, entered the secured parking area, and stole two catalytic converters from a delivery truck. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 25

At 7:52 a.m., an officer responded to the 1100 block of Singing Wood Drive regarding a vandalism report. The victim determined his mailbox had been forced open and was left empty. It is unknown if any mail was stolen. The investigation is pending any available surveillance footage.

At 1:12 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Santa Clara Street regarding a burglary report. The victim entered her home and discovered the suspect entered the home, turned on the shower, and let the water leak into the garage. Officers located the suspect inside the home and a 32-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Feb. 26

At 12:02 a.m., an officer responded to Hilton Garden Inn, located at 199 N. Second Ave., regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim discovered someone entered his unlocked vehicle and fled with fishing tackle equipment and various electronics. There are no investigative leads as of the date of this report.

At 3:29 p.m., an officer took a theft report involving a resident of the 400 block of Rosemarie Drive. The victim stated he sold a pair of designer shoes on eBay and when the customer wished to return the items, the customer mailed back a different pair of shoes. The suspect is unknown at this time.

Feb. 27

At 12:01 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of East Floral Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. A witness stated he saw two suspects open the victim’s tailgate and steal gardening equipment. The suspects fled in a blue Toyota van. The investigation is ongoing.

At 9:34 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Race Track, located at 285 W. Huntington Drive, regarding a subject seen driving under the influence. Officers located the vehicle and during a series of tests, the officers determined the 21-year-old female from Houston, Texas had a blood alcohol level of 0.101%. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
