Arcadia Crime Blotters: Feb. 14–20

Feb. 14

At 8:54 a.m., an officer responded to the 11600 block of Clark Street regarding a commercial burglary investigation. The reporting party discovered an unidentified suspect entered the business complex by cutting the chain to the front gate. Once inside, the suspect used an unknown object to ram the roll-up gate. It’s unknown if the suspect successfully entered the business or if any property was taken. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.

At 12:05 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Arcadia Avenue and Golden West Avenue regarding a traffic collision resulting in injuries. Upon contacting the occupants, the officers detected the odor of alcohol emitting from one of the driver’s breath. Through a series of tests, the officers determined the suspect was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage when he drove his vehicle into a brick retaining wall. The 27-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Feb. 15

At 12:41 p.m., an officer responded to the 1500 block of Hyland Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim stated his leaf blower was stolen from the back of his truck at approximately 12:14 p.m. There are no investigative leads as of the date of this report.

At 4:37 p.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of Bradford Avenue regarding a burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed an unknown suspect burglarized the victim’s home on Feb. 14 at 5:44 a.m. The suspect fled with musical instruments and ammunition. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 16

At 1:57 p.m., an officer responded to Fasching’s Car Wash, located at 425 N. Santa Anita Ave., regarding a theft report. Surveillance footage revealed a known suspect entered the car wash at 3:30 a.m. and stole a phone signal booster. The 33-year-old male from Hemet is outstanding as of Feb. 23.

At 5:05 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of Harvard Drive regarding a mail theft report. Surveillance footage captured the suspect stealing the victim’s mail. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a shaved head and was seen wearing a black shirt and bandana covering his face. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 17

At 8:03 p.m., an officer responded to the 600 block of East Duarte Road regarding a stolen vehicle report. Sometime between 8:45 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 17, the victim’s 1995 Honda Accord was stolen. The investigation is pending a review of any submitted surveillance footage.

At 9:29 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department regarding an incident of fraud that occurred in the 1100 block of Volante Drive. The victim’s business transports and sells products. The victim reached out to an existing vendor regarding the shipment of his products. The victim and the company agreed, and the victim paid them. When the victim reached out to the shipping company to confirm the terms, the company said they had no knowledge of the shipping agreement and regretted to inform him that he had been a victim of fraud. An investigation revealed the suspect used a nearly identical email address as the real company and defrauded the victim of more than $27,000. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 18

At 12:39 a.m., officers responded to Larry Tuan DDS, located at 103 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) broke a window and ransacked the business. The loss is unknown at this time. The investigation is pending a review of any submitted surveillance footage.

At 5:14 a.m., officers responded to DZ Hair Studio, located at 556 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a vandalism report. Officers determined the unknown suspect(s) shattered a front glass door. The inside of the business appeared to be intact and did not show any signs of ransacking. The loss is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 19

At 9:22 a.m., an officer took a report of a theft from vehicle incident that occurred in the 500 block of East Live Oak Avenue. The victim stated her catalytic converter had been cut off sometime during the previous night. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.

At 4:10 p.m., an officer responded to Ralphs, located at 211 E. Foothill Blvd., regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed two suspects stole numerous bottles of red wine and fled in a green Toyota Camry. The officer discovered the suspects have been linked to similar crimes in neighboring cities. The suspects are described as Asian males between the ages of 30 and 35 years old and both suspects had thin builds. The investigation is ongoing.

At 4:56 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department regarding a mail theft incident that occurred in the 1000 block of Don Diablo Drive. The victim discovered her mailbox had been broken into and her mail had been stolen. The incident was not captured on surveillance cameras.  

At 11:05 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of East Floral Avenue regarding a suspect seen on surveillance footage in the victim’s backyard. Assisting officers located the suspect nearby and discovered he was in possession of stolen mail and additional stolen property from a burglary that occurred at Zelo Pizza. The suspect, a 22-year-old male transient, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
