A 10-year-old boy was shot several times on Saturday while playing with cousins in front of his Pasadena home. Although conscious and alert when transported to a local hospital by paramedics, he was suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred at approximately 3 p.m. in the 300 block of Parke Street.

According to reports by CBSLA, the boy’s family identified him as Mario Gabriel Ramirez.

“It kind of keeps replaying in my head, you know, me running out and seeing my son the way I saw him,” his mother told CBSLA.

A family member has organized a GoFundMe page to help with recovery expenses.

Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect(s) exited a vehicle and fired multiple bullets, hitting Ramirez, the Pasadena Police Department said in a news release. The suspect(s) re-entered their vehicle and fled the area in what is described as a late model, light colored four-door sedan.

Police said there is nothing to indicate Ramirez was the intended victim and the motive remains unknown. There are no further details available at this time.

Anyone with information about this case to call the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4241.
