On Friday at 11 a.m., older adults and their caregivers are invited to a Zoom presentation by Dr. Kimberly Shriner, infectious disease specialist from Huntington Hospital and the Pasadena Public Health Department. Pasadena Senior Center and Pasadena Village are partnering together to share information about the COVID-19 vaccine and provide this platform for older adults to have their questions answered.

Representatives from the Pasadena Health Department and Dr. Shriner will discuss the COVID-19 vaccines that are available and how to secure an appointment in Pasadena and surrounding areas. A Question and Answer session will follow the presentation. Adults and their caregivers are invited to join the Zoom meeting or call in to hear the information and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Reservations are required and can be made through the Pasadena Senior Center. Those who do not have access to Zoom, can call in to hear the presentation. Call the Pasadena Senior Center at (626) 795-4331 to receive the phone access details for this presentation.

“The COVID-19 vaccine is a constant topic of conversation among older adults in the Pasadena-area,” says Pasadena Village Executive Director Katie Brandon. “This presentation is to not only share current, accurate, and helpful information about the vaccines and how to obtain them, but also to offer a space where seniors can ask questions and hear directly from the experts.”

“Since the pandemic started the Pasadena Senior Center has been a reliable source of information to older adults in our community, says Akila Gibbs, executive director of the Pasadena Senior Center. Our website includes a special page with the most current vaccine information. We are happy that Dr. Shriner is making herself available to update us on the vaccine.”

Shriner is an infectious disease and tropical medical specialist. Since 1992, she has taught as a faculty member at Huntington Hospital. Beyond her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shriner is the founder and director of Huntington’s Phil Simon Clinic, which provides complete HIV and infectious disease care for the underserved in the San Gabriel Valley. In 2001, she founded The Phil Simon Clinic Tanzania Project, a nonprofit, global outreach program in East Africa.
