If you live in Arcadia, you have heard of the Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association (DAIA). But what do they really do? Join Donna Choi, executive director of DAIA, at the Arcadia Community Coordinating Council meeting on Feb. 1 from 11:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. via Zoom to find out.
A native Angelino, Choi has been with DAIA since 2016 where she works to increase the district’s brand identity through events and promotions, beautifying the area and adding pedestrian amenities, as well as managing the corporate documents, elections, and meetings.
She is currently serving as a commissioner on the Board of Transportation Commission for the City of Los Angeles where she advises the city on transportation issues. She previously served the City of Los Angeles as a commissioner on the East Area Planning Commission. Following a successful career in radio (KROQ and others), she opened the popular Silver Lake gift shop Serifos, which helped lead the renaissance of the Sunset Junction business district. For 12 years, Choi and Serifos were active and engaged with the community, a highlight being their annual Halloween treat-a-thon for local children.
