Early Thursday morning, a driver lost control of a car when it raced through the stop sign at Foothill Boulevard and Mountain Avenue and ended up embedded in the living room of an unoccupied home.
The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. when the driver apparently missed a turn, according to the Monrovia Police Department.
The driver left the car, which was immobilized in the home, and ran from the scene. The driver remains on the run, Monrovia police said.
A neighbor walking his dog near the scene Thursday morning said this was not the first time an accident like this has happened in the area. He said he believes a barrier should be in place because the traffic on Foothill Boulevard tends to speed and often bypasses the stop sign.
It took firefighters several hours to extract the vehiclefrom the home. The damage to the home is severe.
