Bernie Sanders endorses challengers for Long Beach City Council’s 6th, 8th Districts
Two-time presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, has made two endorsements in Long Beach City Council races. Along with endorsements in dozens of other local elections across the country, Sanders recently announced that he’s backing Cal State Los Angeles adjunct professor Suely Saro for Long Beach’s Sixth District and nonprofit director Tunua Thrash-Ntuk for the Eighth District. “In every corner of the country, strong progressives are running at the state and local level to represent our movement and lead the fight to transform this country,” Sanders wrote in a Friday, Oct. 9, announcement on the endorsements, posted on the self-publishing platform Medium. “We need to continue building and strengthening our movement from the ground up by electing more progressives to state and local positions.” Saro and Thrash-Ntuk are both running against incumbents for their respective seats.
