Another 61 coronavirus cases were reported in Long Beach, officials announced Friday, Sept. 18. There have been 11,440 cases identified in the city since the pandemic began. But about 10,643 people — or 93% of those who have tested positive — have since recovered. For the second day in a row, there were no new coronavirus-related deaths reported Friday; the city’s death toll remained 237. There were 44 Long Beach residents in hospitals with the virus on Friday. Long Beach’s positive testing rate was 3.8%, slightly down from 3.9% the day prior. Its new daily case rate was 6.1 per 100,000 people, the same as reported Thursday.
