California is giving the OK for nail salons to reopen. That’s even in counties in the purple tier meaning coronavirus is still widespread. Right now, LA County is in the purple tier, which means Many non-essential indoor business operations are closed. The final decision, though, will be made by the counties. LA County public health officials tell KNX 1070 News they need to consult with the Board of Supervisors to figure out the timing to change the county health order to allow nail salons to resume indoor services with modifications. LA County could move out of the state’s most restrictive coronavirus tier sometime next month if the numbers keep heading the way they’ve been going. LA County has seen a recent increase in coronavirus cases. But it’s unclear whether it’s a sign that we’re heading into another post-holiday surge. Professional Beauty Federation of California legal counsel Fred Jones tells KNX 1070 News LA County may follow the state’s lead. In late August, Gov. Newsom announced a four-tier system for reopening guidelines in the state based on case rate and test positivity for county movement.
