Arcadia Man Pleads No Contest to Beating Ex-Girlfriend

AnArcadia man pleaded no contest last Wednesday to beating the mother of his twochildren when she visited his home last year, the Los Angeles County DistrictAttorney’s Office announced.

DeputyDistrict Attorney Lisa Tanner said Robert Michael Mendez, 28, entered the pleato one count of injuring a girlfriend or child’s parent.

Sentencingis scheduled on Nov. 10 in Department D of the Los Angeles County SuperiorCourt, Pasadena Branch. Mendez faces four years in state prison as a result ofthe plea.

Thedefendant assaulted the victim on Sept. 29, 2019, at his Arcadia home, theprosecutor said. When the victim attempted to escape, the defendant followedthe woman and dragged her back to the home while beating her, the prosecutoradded.

CaseGA106596 was investigated by the Arcadia Police Department.
