(Photo by Brittany Murray, Press-Telegram/SCNG) Whipsawed by on-again, off-again health orders, the San Fernando Valley’s barber shops, hair stylists and nail salons are holding their breath until the coronavirus resurgence relents and they can do business in their shops again. The most recent health orders allow them to open outside, but with summer heat in full bloom and logistical challenges numerous, only a few are doing so. “I can’t tell you how many people I’m hearing from who are getting haircuts in parking lots, got their nails done in an alley, on a sidewalk,” said Stuart Waldman, president of the Valley Industry and Commerce Association. “Businesses are resilient and they are trying to adjust the best they can,” Waldman added. “Obviously, it’s not perfect, but we have to be safe.” Potentially hundreds of personal care businesses throughout California, including in Los Angeles County, plan to defy the state’s coronavirus health orders on Monday, Aug.
