Arcadia Evacuation Order and Warnings Remain in Effect

Sunday, officials issued a mandatory evacuation order for all residents north of Elkins Avenue and east of Santa Anita Avenue in the City of Arcadia which remains in effect as of Monday until further notice. Residents north of Foothill Boulevard and east of Santa Anita Avenue remain under an evacuation warning as well.

Residents are advised to evacuate the area using Santa Anita Avenue. Red Cross Los Angeles reopened the evacuation center at Santa Anita Park Sunday, located at 285 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia, CA, 91007. Residents are advised to enter through Gate 5.

Fire crews worked overnight to protect the foothill neighborhoods of Arcadia. The Bobcat Fire made its way into the Chantry Flat area above Arcadia and approached Wilderness Park. Although the fire burned the hillside above the park, the park was not damaged. No structures in Arcadia have been impacted.

TheArcadia Police Department continues to provide routine patrols within themandatory evacuation area, and elderly, disabled and high-risk residents whorequire evacuation assistance are advised to dial 9-1-1.

OnSunday, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger signed a proclamationdeclaring a local emergency in the county and requested a state proclamation.

TheBobcat Fire has grown to 36,366 acres and is 6% contained as of Monday morning.Crews will be focused on strengthening and improving the fire line between thesouth end of the fire and the foothills communities Monday, according to thelatest incident report. When possible, control lines will be established on thefires edge and residents can expect to see strategic firing operations.

Thefire has crossed to the west side of Santa Anita Canyon and is growing towardsMt. Wilson and Mt. Harvard. On the north end, the fire has reached Bear Creekand will continue to spread west along the crest. So far crews have beensuccessful at picking up all spot fires that have crossed Highway 2 and crews willwork to maintain that perimeter. The fire is holding to the west side of Highway39 and crews will continue to work at maintaining this perimeter. As of Monday,officials estimate containment will be achieved on Oct. 30.
