Grand Re-Opening of Monrovia High School Weight Room
MonroviaUnified School District celebrated the grand re-opening of the Monrovia HighSchool (MHS) Weight Room with an Open House on Wednesday.
Theidea to renovate the existing MHS Weight Room came from Monrovia High SchoolFootball Coach Christian Williams. According to Principal Kirk McGinnis, “Weare very thankful to Coach Williams. MHS student athletics will be greatlystrengthened by this newly updated facility.”
Itwas Monrovia City Council Member Larry Spicer, a Monrovia High School Class of1973 alum, who raised the funds, more than $24,000, to support the weight roomrenovation. Monrovia School Board President Rob Hammond said, “Mr. Spicer is anoutstanding community leader who has been very supportive of our schools. Hespecifically enjoys supporting Wildcat athletics.”
“Iam very pleased the improvements to the facility will be used and enjoyed byall athletic teams and PE classes at Monrovia High School,” CouncilmemberSpicer said.
Hammondadded, “We want to thank all of the community patrons who generouslycontributed to supporting the weight room renovation at MHS including AthensDisposal, Baja Ranch Market, Bowden Construction, Darrell Brooke Law Firm, GarySchaeffler, Mountjoy Construction, Gina Willard, Larry Spicer, Marvin Holmes,Paul Kalemkiarian (Wine of the Month Club), Sierra Auto Cars, and Mr. &Mrs. Victor Hoskins.”
