Traffic calming and control devices were installed last Friday in front of the Starbucks located on Foothill Boulevard. The City of Monrovia reports that since Starbucks opened in 2016, there have been “issues related to illegal left turns into and out of that location.” The city hopes the new traffic controls will prevent illegal left turns.
When the location first opened, a different traffic control device called “turtle shells” were installed to but they were removed for being ineffective and popping tires.
The final plans for the new installations were reviewed and approved by the Traffic Safety Committee and a contractor hired by Starbucks installed them.
