Arcadia Crime Blotters: Aug. 23-29

Aug.23

At8:37 a.m., an officer contacted a male subject loitering near a closed businessat 440 E. Huntington Drive. Through a consensual search, the officer discoveredthe subject was in possession of multiple stolen credit cards and a stolendriver’s license. Further investigation revealed the subject lied to officersabout his identity. The 32-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transportedto the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At6:02 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S.Baldwin Ave., regarding a shoplifting report. The suspect concealed clothing,jewelry, and candy in a shopping bag and attempted to leave the store withoutpaying for the items. The 65-year-old female from San Gabriel was issued acitation and released at the scene.   

At9:05 p.m. officers responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, 300 W. HuntingtonDrive, regarding a subject causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. An investigationrevealed the subject had verbally and physically assaulted hospital employees.The 35-year-old male from Duarte was issued a citation and released.

Aug.24

At1:24 p.m., an officer responded to a traffic collision that had just occurred.An investigation revealed the driver collided with two parked cars. Uponcontacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting fromthe driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 61-year-old male from Lynwood was driving under the influenceof an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested and transported to theArcadia City Jail for booking.

At8:42 p.m., an officer patrolling the area of South Baldwin Avenue and WestDuarte Road conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration. Furtherinvestigation revealed the driver was driving with an expired driver’s licenseand he was in possession of personal identifying and credit account information.The 41-year-old male from Alhambra was arrested and transported to the ArcadiaCity Jail for booking

Aug.25

At1:36 p.m., an officer responded to JC Penny, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a grandtheft report. An investigation revealed a female suspect concealed over $1,000worth of make up inside a black bag and fled the scene. The investigation isongoing.  

At2:24 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a grandtheft report. Two female suspects made separate purchases using the same creditcard. One suspect asked for three large bags. They then walked around the storeconcealing over $1,400 worth of merchandise in the bags before leaving thestore without paying. The investigation is ongoing.  

At11:33 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for making anillegal turn near the intersection of West Duarte Road and El Monte Avenue. Aninvestigation revealed the driver was driving without a driver’s license. The31-year-old male from Tulare was arrested and transported to the Arcadia CityJail for booking.

Aug.26

At6:09 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Duarte Road and EastGolden West Avenue regarding a traffic collision. Two drivers collided when onedriver exited a driveway and entered the roadway. The second driver was pushedinto a light pole. Neither of the drivers were not injured.

At8:44 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Oakhurst Laneregarding a fraud report. The victim attempted to purchase a puppy online. She sent$400 to the seller who then asked for additional money. The seller never sentthe puppy and failed to refund the money. The investigation is ongoing.

Aug.27

At9:08 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital regarding thereport of a possible assault with a deadly weapon. An investigation revealedthe victim was walking when he was approached by four suspects who exited avehicle. Two of the suspects attacked him. One of the suspects used a knife tocut his left forearm. The victim managed to escape and stated that he was notdesirous of prosecution.  

Aug.28

At1:29 p.m., an officer responded to the area ofHuntington Drive and First Avenue regarding the report of a robbery that hadjust occurred. The suspect, known to the victim, approached her and madeadvances which she refused. The suspect flowed the victim and held her bike tokeep her from leaving. The victim released her bike in fear for her safety andthe suspect fled the scene on her bike. The 25-year-old male was located, arrested,and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Aug.29

At12:10 a.m., an officer responded to the area of First Avenue and Bonita Streetregarding a suspicious person seen looking into businesses. The officer locatedtwo subjects inside a vehicle. An investigation revealed the driver had anoutstanding warrant for his arrest. He was also found to be in possession of a crowbar,stolen property, and drug paraphernalia. The 26-year-old male from Rosemead wasarrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. At 7:51 p.m., anofficer responded to El Pollo Loco, 1 W. Duarte Road, regarding a battery thathad just occurred. The victim stated he met with business associates at thelocation and they had a disagreement over money. The victim was claimed that hewas hit with sticks by six to eight people. The investigation is ongoing.
