Arcadia Crime Blotters: Aug. 9-15

Aug.9

At11:03 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Live OakAvenue regarding a residential burglary and stolen vehicle report. Surveillancefootage revealed two suspects entered the victim’s garage and fled westbound onLive Oak Avenue with the victim’s vehicle. The suspects were described as twomales, one with short hair and facial hair and the other was seen wearing ahat. The investigation is ongoing.

Aug.10

At1:26 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 700block of West Lemon Avenue regarding a subject making suicidal threats.Officers contacted the supposed victim and discovered the report was false andno one at the location was threatening to endanger themselves. Over recentweeks, Arcadia Police Department has received multiple false 911 calls. Furtherinvestigation revealed more than nine false 911 calls had been received fromthe 700 block of West Lemon Avenue. Another similar incident occurred on Aug.15 where officers determined the suspects were a 7-year-old male and a 11-year-oldmale, both from Arcadia, who admitted to placing the false calls.

At5:59 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia High School, located at 180 CampusDrive, regarding a vandalism report. The officer determined an unknownsuspect(s) spray-painted on the Performing Arts Center. There is no suspectinformation at this time.

At3:57 p.m., an officer responded to Hilton Garden Inn, located at 199 N. SecondAve., regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime between Aug. 8 at 5 p.m.and Aug. 9 at 4 a.m., someone cut a lock to the rear cargo compartment of arented truck and stole 3000 cloth masks. There is no suspect information at thetime of this report.

Aug.11

At4:50 a.m., officers responded to the U.S. Post Office, located at 41 WheelerAve., regarding a mail theft report. An employee witnessed a suspect steal apackage from the secured parking lot, climb over a fence and flee westboundwith the stolen package. The suspect is described as a male, thin build,approximately 6 feet tall, in his early twenties, wearing a gray hoodedsweatshirt, and gray sweatpants. The incident was not captured on surveillancefootage.  

At8:17 a.m., an officer responded to R.J. Collins Plumbing, located at 205 N.Second Ave., regarding an attempted vehicle theft. Sometime during the previousnight, unknown suspect(s) shattered the passenger window, pried open thepassenger door lock, and tampered with the ignition. There is no suspectinformation at this time.

Aug.12

At9:34 a.m., an officer took a telephonic report of a theft from vehicle thatoccurred in the 300 block of West Huntington Drive. The victim stated anunknown suspect entered his unsecured vehicle, and once inside, the suspectstole the victim’s vacuum, saw, sunglasses, and a briefcase.  

At1:03 p.m., an officer took a telephonic report of a battery that occurred inthe 1000 block of Balboa Drive. An investigation revealed two juvenile malesengaged in a physical fight over a female. The suspect is a 16-year-old malefrom Arcadia and the victim did not desire prosecution.

At10:07 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of La SierraAvenue regarding a suspicious person. Surveillance footage captured a lonesuspect entering the rear yard. The suspect was seen shining his flashlight atthe cameras, climbing over the fence, and running away from the residence. Thesuspect is described as a heavy-set adult with a dark colored hooded sweatshirtand mask. The investigation is ongoing.

Aug.13

At2:47 p.m., an officer responded to China Red, located at855 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a vehicle burglary report. The victim discoveredsomeone had smashed her rear passenger window and fled with her computers,purse, passport, and cash. The investigation is pending a review of thesurveillance footage.

Aug.14

At1:22 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the 1000block of South First Avenue for having expired registration and tinted windows.During a consensual search of the vehicle, the officer located marijuana hiddenin a compartment in the vehicle, a stolen check stub from a local Arcadiaaddress, checks not belonging to the suspect, photocopies of social securitycards, and other identity theft evidence. The officer also locatedmethamphetamine pipes and five rounds of ammunition. An investigation revealedthe stolen social security information was likely stolen from the suspect’semployer. The 28-year-old from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to theArcadia City Jail for booking.

At7:34 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection ofDuarte Road and La Cadena Avenue regarding a traffic collision with injuries.Upon contacting one of the drivers, the officer detected a strong odor ofalcohol emitting from the suspect’s breath. Based on the suspect’s symptoms ofbeing under the influence of alcohol, the officer arrested the 42-year-old malefrom Arcadia. He was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Aug.15

At12:50 p.m., an officer took a telephonic fraud report from a victim who residesin the 1600 block of Perkins Drive. The victim was expecting a new credit cardand discovered someone had stolen it from his mailbox. The victim then learned anunknown suspect had used the credit card to complete two fraudulenttransactions, resulting in a loss of $776.53.

At4:31 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of South FirstAvenue regarding a petty theft report. Sometime between 11:27 a.m. and 3:15p.m. on Aug. 15, unknown suspect(s) stole nine packages from the victim’s porchwhich contained baseball cards. The investigation is pending a review of anysurveillance footage, if located.
