Pasadena Police Shoot Man During Traffic Stop

OnSaturday, Aug. 15, at about 7:53 p.m., Pasadena police stopped a car occupiedby two men for an alleged vehicle violation Raymond Avenue and Grandview Street.
Duringthe traffic stop, one of the passengers “became uncooperative, preventing asearch of his person,” according to police. The passenger ran into the street andallegedly removed a firearm from the waistband of his pants. An officer firedhis weapon twice striking the person at least once in the upper torso.According to police, the person continued running as he discarded his firearminto the street.
Oncethe person stopped running police called paramedics when they determined he hadbeen struck. The person was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounceddead.
Detectivesfrom the Pasadena Police Department responded to the scene and assumed theofficer involved shooting investigation.
Accordingto media reports, a crowd formed after the shooting and resulted in one personin the crowd being tased and the police using pepper spay on those gathered.
Theinvestigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
