In recent weeks, Arcadia Unified schools have seen a rash of vandalism, trespassing, and breaking and entering. Several schools have been hit with graphic and offensive graffiti and have been broken into — theft has also been an issue. In a communication to parents, district officials said “This is not only disturbing for our staff to have to discover, witness, and deal with, but it is costing our district (current students and families) a lot of money that could be much better spent.”

District officials say security has been enhanced in recent weeks with additional cameras, new locks and entry points, and increased lighting. However, these added measures are costing the district money that is already in short supply due to the pandemic.

The district is now asking the community for help with information related to any potential crimes that have occurred at any of its campuses. The district says it will “be prosecuting any and all individuals found guilty of committing these crimes to the fullest extent of the law.”
