The LA2050 Grant Challenge has awarded Union Station Homeless Services the $50,000 prize in the L.A. Connect category. With this grant money, the organization will expand its Community Allies Program, which matches committed and passionate volunteers with newly housed community members.

The Community Allies Program is a volunteer-driven program that transforms the traditional one-on-one mentor relationship by fostering connection, companionship, and community. Together, a volunteer ally with a recently housed adult or family team up for social outings, recreational activities, and support.

This program is a huge part of the reason that 97% of Union Station’s program participants successfully retain their housing and permanently end their homelessness.
