TheLA2050 Grant Challenge has awarded Union Station Homeless Services the $50,000prize in the L.A. Connect category. With this grant money, theorganization will expand its Community Allies Program, which matches committedand passionate volunteers with newly housed community members.

TheCommunity Allies Program is a volunteer-driven program that transforms thetraditional one-on-one mentor relationship by fostering connection, companionship, and community. Together, a volunteer ally with a recently housedadult or family team up for social outings, recreational activities, andsupport.

Thisprogram is a huge part of the reason that 97% of Union Station’s programparticipants successfully retain their housing and permanently end theirhomelessness.
