PasadenaShowcase House for the Arts (PSHA) has announced the 56th Pasadena ShowcaseHouse of Design. Current ticket holders will have the chance to take a virtualwalk through the renovated home at their leisure, which will be enriched withdesigner interviews and insights. “Ultimate Viewpoints: 56” is a state-of-the-art 3D interactive tour offering a unique perspective and expansive lookinto one of Southern California’s design treasures, the annual PasadenaShowcase House. It will be released on Oct. 2, and tickets for the generalpublic will go on sale in September. “Particularly in today’s environment, weare pleased to offer our supporters the ability to experience the sumptuous andaspirational design of the Showcase House from the comfort and safety of theirhomes,” said PSHA’s 2019-20 President Vikki Sung.

Although PSHAheld out hopes the doors could open this fall, the continued restrictions onlarge gatherings by city, county and state mandates made it impossible. “Thisis not a decision that was taken lightly,” continued Ms. Sung. “It’s the firsttime in Showcase history that we are not able to open our traditional home tourbut the health and safety of our visitors, designers, vendors and members areutmost in our thoughts.”

This year’s benefitchair, Jill Fosselman, expressed her sincere appreciation to everyone. “We areso grateful for the loyalty and on-going support that we have received to dateand really want to bring a full experience to our entire Showcase family.” shesaid. “We hope our current ticket holders will stand with us as we roll-out anew approach to this challenge that will be every bit as amazing as being therefirst-hand.”

Hard work, timeand much effort has already been put forth to complete this year’s ShowcaseHouse, under COVID-19 restrictions, and PSHA is eager to show off thecreativity and talents of the 2020 designers. Taking a “the show must go on”stance, the organization has pivoted to present this year’s house to the publicthrough other means. “Ultimate Viewpoints: 56,” currently in production, notonly highlights the completely renovated Federal-country style home, designedby “Hollywood Society’s Architect” Gerard R. Colcord, it offers so much more. Thetour will be interactive and allow viewers to also click on video links tolearn in depth about a designer’s insight or get additional design information.A great benefit is viewers have the opportunity to “walk through” the house asmany times as they wish for a truly personal experience and can focus on aparticular room of their interest. An interactive digital program will also beincluded with the tour. Ticket holders will appreciate the familiarity of thelayout and the powerful images of finished design, while enjoying theopportunity to learn more about the elements and products used in thedevelopment and execution of the design.

Much like manyother nonprofits who have been challenged during this time, PSHA has developedan alternative that is both creative and fun to raise funds to fulfill theirmission of providing music and art programs throughout the community. Another“first” for PSHA is an online auction called “Showcase Strong” which will openfor bidding online from Aug. 17-31. Items will include luxury SouthernCalifornia getaways, a fine array of jewelry, vacation trips (something to lookforward to), furnishings, gifts, wine and other services.   To preview the variety of items, visit bit.ly/ShowcaseStrong beginning Aug. 3, 2020.

PSHA has raisedmore than $23 million from the Pasadena Showcase House of Design, PSHA’s onlyfundraiser. Money has gone to support the organization’s three music programs,Music MobileTM, Youth Concert and Instrumental Competition. Each year PSHAawards gifts and grants to a diverse list of local nonprofit organizations insupport of their efforts in the community for music and arts. PSHA alsounderwrites concerts to ensure the joy of live music is available to a broadrange of audiences. Its support of nonprofit organizations enriches thecommunity and provides opportunities for a variety of groups, from students toseniors, to learn, enjoy and grow from their experiences in these programs. Inaddition, PSHA has a longstanding history of supporting the Los AngelesPhilharmonic and its community outreach programs.
