A small group of Monrovia firefighters is currently in Pennsylvania conducting the final inspection on a new KME ladder truck, according to Friday’s City Manager’s Update. This is the last step before the truck is driven to California for equipment outfitting and personnel training.

The truck is referred to as a tractor drawn aerial (TDA), where the rear wheels are controlled by a firefighter steering from the rear of the apparatus. This configuration provides better maneuverability compared to the department’s current truck. Storage capacity is also increased which allows for a better cache of tools.
