After weeks of protests at Library Park in Monrovia and endlessdiscussions on race relations and police brutality in the wake of GeorgeFloyd’s murder at the knee of a white police officer in May, activists in thecommunity say they’ve had enough and want to make changes to the system and itstarts at home, say local organizers.

Students, activists and local citizens plan on addressing the mayor’scomments last week by flooding council with letters of concern that they hopewill be read at the virtual council meeting June 16. Many Black Lives Matteractivists believe Tom Adams is not aligned with the issues that have spawned thesedaily protests at Library Park.

People are encouraged to email concerns to cityclerk@ci.monrovia.ca.usor fill out speaker cards for public comment. Call the city clerk for details at(626) 932-5550

Regular meetings of the City Council are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Community Media of the Foothills (KGEM) shows both live broadcasts and replays of City Council meetings on cable television and over the internet.
