In light of the ongoing uncertainty regardingthe COVID-19 pandemic, the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA) hasannounced that they will further postpone the June 7–28 dates for the PasadenaShowcase House of Design. PSHA says its main concern is the “continued healthand well-being of the extended Showcase family which includes guests, designers, trades, volunteers, vendors, members and the communities that host thebeautiful design homes.”
PSHA will have new dates and event information by July 31,2020, under the guidance of city, state and county health and safety mandates.
PSHA Benefit Chair Jill Fosselman says the organizationremains committed and excited to present the 2020 Pasadena Showcase House ofDesign. “We promise to do everything we can to bring about this year’s ShowcaseHouse while protecting health and safety,” she says. “Showcase has always been about aspirationaldesign. This year we’re hopeful thecomplete story of Showcase will be inspirational.”
PSHA President Vikki Sun says, “As a non-profit we stillwant to be able to fulfill our mission to raise money for music and the artsthis year and in the future. We thank everyone for the loyalty and on-goingsupport we have received and are looking forward to bringing our supporters ataste of Showcase as we develop a new plan.”
Over the past two months, PSHA collaborated with thedesigners and their trades to follow all health and safety mandates, includingrequiring facial coverings, repeated hand sanitizing, severely reducing thenumber of and location of workers, and continued site inspection forcompliance. “We were a construction site when we were hit by COVID-19, and asthe Site Superintendent, I took my responsibility for the health and safety ofour workers and volunteers seriously,” says Fosselman. “What I love most isthat the improvements honor and respect the historic integrity of the home andoriginal architectural vision.”
The Federal-country style home, designed by “HollywoodSociety’s Architect” Gerard R. Colcord, is situated on park-like grounds in northArcadia. New for this year’s event is a schedule of onsite musical performancesand PSHA hopes the Saturday night concerts will continue as planned.
Although PSHA assures that all tickets will be honored at the rescheduled home tour, those that have already purchased tickets will also be treated to a special bonus, a Virtual Gala planned for this summer. The special, live event will be a behind-the scenes look at the Showcase house and will offer a tour of the home in progress, interviews with designers, never-before-seen product demonstrations, musical performances and the kick-off of an online auction. Current ticket holders will be extended an invitation to join the event for free and others can purchase tickets at pasadenashowcase.org for $25 plus a transaction fee.
