April 3
Officers responded to an attempted strong armed robbery in thearea of Lake Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The victim, who was takingarchitectural photographs in the area, was approached by the suspect whoattempted to take the victim’s camera after swinging a skateboard at him. Thevictim was not struck with the skateboard, but a struggle for the camera ensued.The suspect was unable to take the camera and fled on the skateboard. Officerslocated and detained the suspect, who remained in the immediate area. Whilebeing detained, the suspect claimed to have been infected with the COVID-19virus. Necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) was utilized by theofficers during their contact with the suspect, who would later admit heclaimed to have COVID-19 in an attempt to avoid going to jail.
Pasadena Police Officers responded to the housing development locatedat Orange Grove Boulevard and Summit Avenue regarding a group that had gatheredin the parking lot and was causing a disturbance. The group disbursed whenofficers arrived. Officers located a discarded handgun in the immediate area ofone of the parked vehicles where the group was congregating. The gun wasrecovered and further investigation of the weapon will be conducted by detectives.
April 4
Officers were dispatched to the report of a robbery that hadoccurred in the 100 block of Penn Street. The victim, who had been walking inthe area, was approached by the two suspects. One of the suspects displayed apistol at the victim and demanded his possessions. The victim attempted to grabthe gun and a struggle ensued during which time the victim was struck severaltimes in the head with the pistol, sustaining a laceration to his head. Aftertaking the victim’s cell phone, both suspects ran. Neither suspect wasimmediately located but have since been identified and were taken into custodyby detectives.
Pasadena Communications Center received multiple calls of shotsfired in the area of El Molino Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard. Officersarrived on scene and located evidence of a shooting on Elmira Street and SantaBarbara Street. A witness indicated that a suspect was shooting from a movingvehicle. Fortunately no one was struck but several bullet casings were locatedin the area.
April 5
Officers were dispatched to the area of Corson Street and HudsonAvenue regarding an armed robbery that had just occurred. The victim, who waswalking in the immediate area, was approached by three suspects. One of thesuspects pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his money. The other twosuspects reached into the victim’s pockets and took several items of personalproperty and immediately fled on foot. These suspects are believed to beinvolved in numerous street robberies and have since, been taken into custody. Shortlyafter the previous call, officers responded to another call of an armed robberyjust a few blocks away. The victim, who had listed his computer for sale on apopular website, and an associate agreed to meet the suspects in the area of100 N. Lake Ave. to complete the sale of the computer. Prior to conducting thetransaction, the two suspects assaulted the victim, causing the victim to fallto the ground. The victim’s associate attempted to restrain one of thesuspects, but quickly released the suspect when the associate realized thesuspect had a gun. Both suspects fled in their vehicle after taking thevictim’s computer. Evidence was collected at the scene and furtherinvestigation by Detectives is being conducted.
April 6
Officers responded to the report of a strong armed robbery that occurredin the 2000 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue the previous day. On April 5 atapproximately 3:20pm, the victim was waiting at a bus in the area when thesuspect vehicle stopped near the bus stop. Two suspects exited the vehicle andapproached the victim, demanding money. The suspects grabbed hold of the victimand struck him in the face. Fearing for his safety, the victim handed them hiscell phone and wallet. The suspects then re-entered the vehicle and left thearea. These suspects are believed to have been involved in numerous, recentstreet robberies and once identified by detectives, they were taken intocustody.
Officers responded to another report of a strong armed robbery inthe area of Montana Street and Fair Oaks Avenue. The two victims, who werewalking on Montana St.., were approached by two suspects who exited a vehicle.The suspects demanded personal items from the victims. One suspect pushed avictim and ripped a gold chain from the victim’s neck. Both victims immediatelyran away from the suspects and reported the incident to the Police Department.Evidence to this robbery, links these suspects to the previous streetrobberies. All suspects were subsequently taken into custody.
Officers responded to the area of Lake Avenue and Maple Streetregarding an additional street robbery. The juvenile victim was waiting for abus in the area when he was approached by two suspects. The suspects pushed thevictim, struck his arm and ripped a gold chain from his neck. One of thesuspects also tried to remove a ring from the victim’s finger, but was not successful.The suspects fled the area in a vehicle. These suspects were responsible forseveral street robberies and have since been taken into custody by detectives.
April 7
Officers responded to a shot fired call in the 1000 block ofSummit Avenue. When they arrived, they saw people running from the area and adeceased dog in the middle of the street. The officers’ investigation revealedthat the dog had been shot and evidence was collected. The evidence lead to thearrest of a suspect who was found in the immediate area. The suspect wasarrested and booked for animal cruelty.
April 11
Officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed inthe area of Colorado Boulevard and Oakland Avenue. Officers ran a records checkon the license plate, which revealed the vehicle had recently been reportedstolen from a nearby city. A traffic stop of the vehicle was attempted, but thesuspect fled at a high rate of speed. A brief pursuit was initiated howeverofficers lost sight of the vehicle and subsequently cancelled the pursuit. Ashort time later, the vehicle was located abandoned, however, the suspect wasnot found. The officers were able to contact the owner of the stolen and returnit to him.
April 13
Officers were dispatched to a convenience store located in the2700 block of East Colorado Boulevard regarding an armed robbery. The victim,who was behind the cashier counter when two suspects entered the business, wasfearful when one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and demandedmoney. The other suspect jumped over the counter, took several merchandiseitems as well as money from the cash register. Both suspects fled the locationon foot.
Officers responded to the area of Hammond Street and Summit Avenueregarding a group who were reportedly participating in illegal gambling.Additionally, one of the individuals in the group was seen brandishing afirearm. Moment later, the Police Department received a call reporting one gunshot was heard and the group of individuals was seen running from the location.When officers arrived, the group was not located but a local hospital calledthe Police Department to report a man had arrived at their emergency room witha gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was treated for a non-life threateninginjury. Officers canvassed the scene and located evidence of the shooting.Detectives are continuing the investigation.
April 15
Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 1200 block ofNorth Raymond Avenue. The victims were in the front yard of their residencewhen they saw the suspects walk towards their residence. As they got closer tothe victims, one suspect removed a firearm from his waistband and firedmultiple rounds at the victim’s residence. The victims attempted to run howeverone victim was grazed with a bullet. The suspects fled immediately after firingthe weapon. The victim who was struck, sustained a non-life threatening wound.Evidence of a shooting was located and the investigation is on-going.
April 17
Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 1200 Block of North LakeAvenue regarding a man with a knife in front of a restaurant. Officer locatedand detained the suspect immediately upon their arrival. The victim toldofficers the suspect had come to the business and refused to wear a mask toenter. An argument ensued when the suspect was denied entry and the suspectproduced a knife. The victim closed the business door to prevent the suspectfrom entering. With the door closed, the suspect used the mail slot to stab thevictim in the hand and made life threatening comments to the victim. The victimsustained a minor injuries and the suspect was booked for assault with a deadlyweapon.
April 18
Pasadena Police Department received information regarding a stolenvehicle that had fled from officers of a nearby police agency, during apursuit. The stolen vehicle was last seen near the Pasadena City border. A fewhours later, Pasadena Police Officers located the vehicle parked in the parkinglot of a business in the 400 block of North Los Robles Avenue. As the officersapproached the vehicle to detain the suspect, they realized the suspect wassleeping in the car. He was arrested and transported to the Pasadena PoliceDepartment’s jail.
Pasadena Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for minortraffic violations in the area of Oakland Avenue and Villa Street. The driverwas unlicensed and the officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana emittingfrom the car. During a search of the vehicle, a loaded firearm with an illegal,extended magazine was recovered as well as a can of spray paint. Officersnoticed at least one suspect had fresh paint on his hands. A search of the areawas conducted to determine if there was any recent graffiti, however none wasimmediately found.
April 19
Officers responded to the 100 block of North Raymond Avenueregarding a male reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers locatedthe injured victim, who claimed he had been shot near the 400 block of NorthGarfield Avenue and had walked to his current location. Officers went to thearea described and found evidence of the shooting. The area was canvassed andno additional victims were located. The victim was transported to the hospitalin stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
April 21
Officers responded to the 1100 block of North Fair Oaks Avenueregarding an armed robbery that had occurred. The two victims were sitting in aparked car when they were allegedly approached by two suspects. One suspectdisplayed a firearm and demanded money from the victims. When the victimsrefused, the suspects assaulted one of the victims and removed a bag from thecar which contained a significant amount of money. The victims drove away fromthe location and called to report the incident to police. A search of the areafor the suspects was conducted by officers, but they were not able toimmediately locate them.
April 24
Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East WashingtonBoulevard regarding a family disturbance and the suspect was reported to bearmed with a knife. Upon their arrival, officers located the suspect outsideand detained him. Officers learned the victim and suspect became involved in averbal argument resulting in the suspect assaulting the victim with his handsand threatened him with the knife. The victim sustained minor injury and was treatedby paramedics. The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
April 25
Officers responded to the 500 block of Union Street in regards toa possible assault. The officers contacted the victim who reported the suspectshad thrown a rock at her, which struck her in the leg. Officers located thesuspect in the area and detained him. The victim identified the suspect and hewas arrested for the assault. The victim suffered minor injuries that did notrequire medical attention. The suspect, who possibly suffers from a mentalillness, later spat on police and while in custody, provided a detailed plan onhow he intended to kill an officer.
April 26
Officers responded to the reported theft of a city vehicle fromthe area of Villa Park. The vehicle was subsequently located in the 400 blockof Carmelo Avenue. The vehicle was parked and occupied by one individual. Theoccupant was arrested for auto theft. The vehicle was not damaged and returnedto the city employee.
April 27
Officers responded to the 600 block of North Oakland Avenue on thereport of a man who was strangling a young child. By the time the officersarrived, the mother had fled the location with the child to a safe locationwhile they waited for officers. Paramedics were summoned to treat the child.The father, who was believed to still be inside the family residence, wassubsequently taken into custody and booked for attempted murder. The child wastransported to a local hospital where he was treated and released back to hismother.
April 28
Officers responded to a restaurant located in the 700 block ofNorth Lake Avenue in regards to an attempted carjacking that had occurred whilethe victim was in the drive-thru line of the business. The suspect hadapproached and tried to force open the front passenger door of the victim’svehicle. The victim feared the suspect was trying to carjack him so he droveaway as the suspect held on to the vehicle. The suspect eventually released hishold of the vehicle and was taken into custody by arriving officers. He wasarrested for the attempted carjacking. Less than two weeks earlier, the samesuspect was arrested for stealing a vehicle from a local car dealership.
April 29
Officers responded to a hotel located in the 2100 block ofColorado Boulevard regarding two subjects who had threatened to assault a hotelemployee. The victim had asked the men to leave and when they refused, headvised the subjects he was going to call the police. The suspects threatenedto assault the victim if he made the call to police. Fearing for his safety, helocked himself in a closet and made the call. When officers arrived to contactthe two suspects, one of the suspects made similar threat towards the officers.Additional officers assisted and after a short struggle, both suspects werearrested. Multiple officers sustained minor injuries as a result of thealtercation.
