Pasadena Weekend Grab-And-Go Meal Service Extended Through May 17
Thepopular grab-and-go emergency meal program for studentsand families will continue seven days a week through May 17, thanks to $105,400in additional funding approved by Pasadena City Council at the April 20 councilmeeting.
Pasadena Unified School District has been distributing pre-packaged, nutritious grab-and-go meals to students 18 and under, Monday through Friday, at school sites across the city since mid-March due to school closures. Soon after the start of the program, the City of Pasadena partnered with the school district to expand meal service to weekends for students and their families. So far, nearly 25,000 lunches have been distributed.

Thecommunity is reminded that this program is solely for picking up meals, andmeals cannot be consumed on site. Families are encouraged to continue to beproactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the schoolsite once meals have been distributed.
In addition to council’s appropriation, the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation established a COVID-19 Community Response Fund. To date, the program has raised over $35,000 to support the weekend grab-and-go meal program. Tax-deductible gifts can be made at RoseBowlResponseFund.org.
At the April 20 City Council meeting, councilmembers also approved funding for seven local food banks, as well as the San Gabriel Valley YWCA senior meal delivery program. A list of local food banks and meal programs is available here.
