PUSD Student Meal Service Resumes
The student meal service at Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) “Grab and Go Food Centers” resumed Tuesday, March 31 and continues weekdays from 9-11 a.m. at seven schools. Using social distancing and public health guidelines, meals will be provided by an outside vendor with the assistance of volunteers.
The student meal service was temporarily suspended Monday after PUSD received a report of a possible COVID-19 case involving an employee who worked in one of the central kitchens. At this time, the case has not been confirmed.
Following the guidance of the Pasadena PublicHealth Department, deep cleaning and sanitizing of kitchens and facilities willbe conducted, and the employee’s co-workers were advised of possible exposure. Thedistrict plans to resume regular meal service by PUSD staff on April 14.
According to Superintendent Brian McDonald, “offersof help have poured in from civic partners, community organizations,restaurants, and individuals” following the announcement to suspend the programon Monday. “I am deeply moved and grateful for these offers, and so very proudto be part of this great community.”
