Pasadena International Film Festival at Laemmle Playhouse 7, March 12-19 at differing times (673 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91101). For nine days and nights, PIFF showcase more than 100 entrants from over 15 countries including features, shorts, documentaries, music videos, animation and web series. There will also be a panel on March 14 at Vroman’s Bookstore and a gala and awards ceremony at The Speakesy on closing night. A day pass is $35, a ticket to the gala and ceremony is $50, a pass to screenings panels and parties is $110, and the all access pass is $160. For more information, click here

March 13

Dance Under the Sea Stars – Latin-themed Night at the Aquarium of The Pacific from 6:30- 10:30 p.m. (100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802). The Aquarium will remain open late so guests can dance to the sounds of cumbia, rock en Español, salsa, and other Latin rhythms with the live bands and DJs. The event will also feature special programming highlighting the world’s smallest and most critically endangered whale, the vaquita. Over Town Brewing One Year Celebration at Over Town Brewing Co., March 13–15 with activities at different hours (227 W. Maple Ave., Monrovia, CA 91016). The celebration will kick-off on Friday with a free pizza lunch and afternoon Happy Hour starting at 1 p.m. Festivities will include food trucks, magicians, competitions, live performances and more. Old Town Monrovia’s 5th Annual FuzzFest at Santa Anita Family YMCA from 5–9 p.m. (501 S. Mountain Ave., Monrovia, CA 91016). The event supports the St Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Admission is free. Los Angeles Pottery Show at Glendale Civic Auditorium, March 14 – 15 from 7 a.m.–4 p.m. (1401 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale, CA 91208). The annual Los Angeles Pottery Show is the largest antique, vintage and contemporary art pottery and art tile event of its kind on the West Coast. This year’s show features live musical performances of harpist Leila Ariel and acoustic guitarist Ramon Cruz on both days of the show. Admission is $17 and good for both days. West Covina Farmers Market in Downtown West Covina from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (195 Glendora Ave., West Covina, CA 91790). A small and upcoming market located in downtown West Covina. Festival of Whales in Dana Point, March 14–15 with various events at different times (Dana Point Harbor, Dana Point, CA 92629). The world’s longest running whale festival, The Dana Point Festival of Whales pays tribute to the annual migration of California gray whales past Dana Point. With so many fun and educational activities, food and entertainment for the entire family, it is no wonder it attracts an estimated 50,000 visitors annually. With his blend of hypnosis and comedy, Sweet pulls seemingly ordinary people from the audience and makes them capable of doing extraordinary things by tapping into the subconscious mind. Chocolate Sundaes Comedy Show at The Laugh Factory Hollywood from 7–8:45 p.m. and 9:30–11:30 p.m. (8001 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90046). This showcase is a mix of seasoned veterans as well as up-and-coming comedians who you’ve seen on all of the major networks. RSVP for the complimentary guest list, which provides free entry.
