
Beverly and Ron Street were college sweethearts and have resided in Arcadia since 1965. Their sons, Dave and Deron, were raised in Arcadia and the family has grown with the addition of three grandchildren: Trevor, Emily, and Connor.
Beverly was elected Senior Citizen of the Year in 2010 by the Arcadia Rotary Club and Arcadia Senior City Commission. She taught as an elementary school teacher for 35 years, and taught at Rosemead Elementary School District at Shuey School for 33 years and was honored as Teacher of the Year in 1986 and received the Continuing Honorary Service Award at Shuey School.
Beverly’s volunteer work began in the late 1960s and continues to this day. Through the years, she has been a board member for the Arcadia Village Association, active in the PTA (serving as president of Hugo Reid School and receiving the Honorary Service Award), den mother of Boy Scouts, president of Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Sorority, Arcadia Sister City commissioner, represented Arcadia in Greece (where she gave a speech in Greek), president of the San Gabriel Valley Alumnae Panhellenic Association (SGVAPA), and chairman of Las Alas (Arcadia Assistance League). She served as the president of the Rosemead Teacher’s Association for two years and served on the board of the Rosemead Educational Foundation. She has been co-chair of the Preservation Historical Committee of the Los Angeles Arboretum, and recently was president of the Southern California Council Alumnae of Panhellenics (SCCAP).
Beverly continues her presidency of the Friends of the Arcadia Historical Society, and her active involvement with KKP, SGVAPA, SCCAPP, Los Voluntarios, Las Alas, Creative Arts Alliance, Arcadia Coordinating Council, board of the Arcadia Historical Society, and on the board of the Arcadia Woman’s Club.
Ron was very successful in corporate commercial real estate and brokered 7/11 Markets in Melbourne, Australia, as well as acquired Wendy’s Restaurants for Jack in the Box on the Hawaiian Islands. As a volunteer, he was active in Indian Guides and Boy Scouts, a coach for Little League and Pony Leagues, and a soccer coach.
Ron also served as Arcadia Sister City commissioner for eight years, was a member of the Arcadia Lions Club for over 25 years (serving on the board as well as being president), was on the board for the Arcadia Welfare and Thrift for over 12 years, and was a member of the Arcadia Elks Lodge for over 10 years.
He volunteered in classrooms to help boys who needed additional help, assisted a blind child in finding a teacher who could help him play the guitar, and was an active member of the Arcadia Coordinating Council board.
Beverly and Ron celebrated their 58th anniversary this past year.
They will be honored at the Citizen of the Year dinner and installation of Arcadia Chamber’s 99th board of directors on March 31 at Embassy Suites at 211 E. Huntington Drive, Arcadia.
