Arcadia Crime Blotters: Feb. 23 – 29

Feb. 23

Shortly before 6:10a.m., an officer responded to Wholecell Inc., located at 11725 Goldring Road,regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed unidentifiedsuspects pried open the main gate and forced their way through various doorsand walls to ultimately steal numerous boxes of IPhone batteries and LCDscreens. The suspects are described as three males in hooded sweatshirts. Theyfled in a white van. The investigation is ongoing. 

At approximately5:51 p.m., officers responded to the Santa Anita RaceTrack, located at 285 West Huntington Drive, regarding a domestic violencereport. The officers discovered an argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend escalatedwhen the male suspect grabbed the victim by the collar, threw her against thewall, and attempted to strangle her. The victim sustained minor visibleinjuries. A 45-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to theArcadia City Jail for booking.

Feb. 24

Just after 3:20 a.m.,an officer initiated a traffic stop on a bicyclist near the intersection ofSunset Drive and Fairview Avenue for riding on the sidewalk without any lights.An investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of a shaved key and stolencredit and debit cards. One of the credit cards was stolen during a vehicleburglary within the City on December 18th of 2019. The 23-year-oldmale, from Pasadena, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail forbooking.

At approximately4:00 p.m., an officer responded to CVS, located at 188 Las Tunas Drive,regarding a fraud report. The officer discovered the suspect, a 20-year-oldmale from Alhambra, attempted to pass a fraudulent prescription for acontrolled substance. The investigation is ongoing.   

Feb. 25

Around 6:20 a.m.,an officer responded to the 00 block of Las Tunas Drive regarding a grand theftreport. An investigation revealed a Bobcat Skidsteer had been stolen from thelocation sometime during the previous night. Detectives recovered the Bobcat inAzusa, and the suspect was identified as a 35-year-old male from Azusa. Thesuspect was arrested on March 2nd and the investigation is ongoing.

Just before 4:50p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Fairview Avenueregarding a residential burglary report. The officer discovered the suspectssmashed a rear sliding glass door, but they fled without entering the victim’shome. The investigation is ongoing. 

Feb. 26

Around 2:00 a.m.,officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Clark Street andPeck Road that was reported as a stolen vehicle. Upon contacting the driver,the officer noticed the steering column had been removed. A records checkrevealed the driver had never been issued a driver’s license. During a searchof the vehicle, officers located a methamphetamine pipe and a shaved key. A39-year-old male, from Covina, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia CityJail for booking.

Shortly after 4:05p.m., an officer responded to a parking lot in the 100 block of North SantaAnita Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime between 10 a.m.and 4 p.m. on February 26th, an unknown suspect stole one of thetires from a Toyota Camry. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. 

Feb. 27

Before 9:05 a.m.,an officer responded to a residence in the 1800 block of South Santa AnitaAvenue regarding a fraud report. The victim discovered a fraudulent transactionon her credit card statement. The victim does not know how the suspect obtainedtheir personal information or the identity of the suspect. 

Around 4:20 p.m., an officer responded to a parking lot in the 100 block ofEast Foothill Boulevard regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer determinedthe suspect smashed one of the windows and fled with the victim’s electronicequipment. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.  

Feb. 28

At about 5:34 a.m.,an officer responded to the intersection of First Avenue and Camino Real Avenueregarding a mail theft report. The reporting party located a large amount ofdiscarded mail in the middle of the street. The mail belonged to threeresidents all with addresses on East Camino Real Avenue. The investigation isongoing.   

Just before 7:45 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block ofWest Winnie Way regarding a vandalism report. Surveillance footage revealed amale suspect attempted to open the victim’s mailbox and when he wasunsuccessful, he damaged the victim’s light fixture. The suspect fled in a darkcolored truck. The investigation is ongoing. 

Shortly after 10:48p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of West FoothillBoulevard regarding a residential burglary report. An investigation revealedthe suspect attempted to enter the attached garage by prying the door but he wasunsuccessful. The suspect may have fled when the alarm activated. Theinvestigation is ongoing.   

Feb. 29

At approximately7:08 a.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of North Second Avenueregarding a vandalism report. A rear wall adjacent to the wash was spraypainted with graffiti. The investigation is ongoing.
