In honor of Black History Month, the documentary “Hollywood’s Architect – The Paul Williams Story” is airing on Southern California public station KCET.
Produced by Royal Kennedy Rodgers and Kathy McCampbell Vance, the documentary tells the story of Paul Williams, an African-American architect, who became one of the most notable architects in history.
According to KCET, the architect-to-the-stars Paul Revere Williams “had a life story that could have been dreamed up by a Hollywood screenwriter.”
Part of the documentary is the 2011 Pasadena Showcase House of Design, which took place at a Williams-designed estate in La Cañada Flintridge.
Then-president, Marti Farley, talked about some of the architectural details and the unique features that Williams incorporated. Pasadena Showcase often selects a house of historical significance, affording the public a rare chance to see the residences that shape California’s history and suburban landscape.
