The cast and crew of Arcadia Stage Theatre Company are taking on Disney’s “Newsies: The Musical.”

Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.”

Director Steven Volpe, Musical Director Allen Everman and Choreographer Jean Michelle-Sayeg lead the cast of Arcadia High School students featuring Derrik Griggs as Jack Kelly, Megan Colton as Katherine Plumber and David Ro as Joseph Pulitzer.

“Newsies” performances will take place on Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m., Friday, March 20, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 21 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Arcadia Performing Arts Center is located at 188 Campus Drive.

Ticket prices range from $10 for students to $30 for VIP admission. For more information, call the box office at (626) 821-1781. Tickets are available for purchase at arcadiastage.com.
