Arcadia Crime Blotters: Feb. 2–8

Feb. 2

Shortly before 3:35 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Foothill Boulevard regarding a traffic collision involving three vehicles. Upon contacting one of the drivers, the officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the suspect’s breath and, through a series of tests, determine she was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The 21-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 6:14 p.m., an officer responded to Sephora, located at 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a shoplifting report. Surveillance footage revealed the male suspect stole approximately $154 worth of merchandise. The suspect fled on foot once the loss prevention employees attempted to contact him. The suspect is described as a Black male, 20 to 30-years-old, approximately 6-foot-1, and 190 pounds. He was wearing a white crop top sweater, pink shoes, and torn jeans. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 3

Just after 9:14 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Melanie Lane regarding a burglary report. The victim and her daughter scared off two masked suspects after they entered their home by smashing a glass door. They fled with a wallet and cash. In addition to masks, the suspects were seen wearing gloves. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., an officer responded to the area of 1100 Arcadia Avenue regarding a vandalism report. An investigation revealed the suspect, a 19-year-old male from Arcadia, brandished a knife in a threatening manner before shattering the driver side mirror of his ex-girlfriend’s car. The suspect is outstanding as of Feb. 11.

Feb. 4

Around 8:22 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Woodruff Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked Ford Escape and fled with a CD. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Just before 1:11 p.m., a Los Angeles County Sheriff Department deputy responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, located at 300 W. Huntington Drive, on behalf of the Arcadia Police Department in regard to a battery report. The deputy discovered the victim, a patient at the hospital, was battered by his nurse after being admitted for a stroke. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 5

Around 11:58 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Paloma Drive regarding a fraud report. The victim determined an unknown suspect fabricated fraudulent checks and ultimately withdrew more than $13,000 from her checking account. The victim does not know how the suspect obtained her account information or the identity of the suspect.

Shortly after 12:49 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a fraud report. The victim received a phone call from the suspect who convinced the victim that she had a warrant for her arrest and that she needed to send the suspect $900 using a Bitcoin ATM. The victim complied and then discovered the incident was a scam. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 6

Before 2:12 a.m., an officer responded to a solo-vehicle traffic collision in the area of Baldwin and Longden avenues. The driver initially fled the scene but eventually returned and the officer discovered he was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .17%. The 29-year-old male from West Covina was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Around 7:54 a.m., an officer responded to Arco AM/PM Gas Station, located at 5 W. Foothill Blvd., regarding a forgery report. The clerk discovered the suspect placed a credit card skimmer on one of the pump’s credit card machines. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 7

At about 10:47 a.m., an officer responded to Foothills Middle School, located at 171 E. Sycamore Ave., regarding a vandalism report. An investigation revealed seven students recorded themselves using a metal shot put to damage school property. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 11:19 a.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of East Huntington Drive regarding a stolen license plate report. The victim stated her license plate was stolen from her Mercedes ML350 sometime between Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. and Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 8

Shortly after 11:10 a.m., an officer responded to LA Fitness, located at 1325 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a petty theft report. The victim discovered his Airpod headphones went missing from his pocket sometime around 8 a.m. on Feb. 8. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 4:40 p.m., an officer responded to Boarders, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects stole approximately $2,319 worth of merchandise. The suspects are described as two Black males, both 6 feet tall, with thin builds, and between the ages of 20 and 30-years-old. The investigation is ongoing.
