53rd California International Antiquarian Book Fair at Pasadena Convention Center, Feb. 7 from 3-8 p.m., Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. (300 E. Green St., Pasadena, CA 91101). Featuring over 150 booksellers from the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, this three-day event is recognized as one of the largest and most prestigious antiquarian book fairs in the world. Visitors have the opportunity to see, learn about, and purchase the finest in rare books, manuscripts, autographs, maps, fine prints, photographs, ephemera, and more. Tickets range from $15-$25. Feb. 7

Beyond the Pale Blue Dot: Seeing Distant Planets at Caltech’s Beckman Auditorium from 7-8:30 p.m. (332 S. Michigan Ave., Pasadena, CA 91106). On the 30th anniversary of the “Pale Blue Dot” image taken by NASA’s Voyager mission, look at the impact of that image and other distant views of Earth. Then turn to the quest to photograph another Earth—an exoplanet orbiting another star—as its own pale blue dot. Registration is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.

San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival 2020 at San Gabriel Mission Playhouse from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. (320 S. Mission Drive, San Gabriel, CA 91776). Throughout the day, the outdoor stage will showcase both traditional and modern music and performances by Asian and Asian American groups. The festival includes over 50 merchant and artisan booths, food trucks, a street chalk art walk, interactive art exhibits, community organizations, a kids zone, fortune tellers, calligraphers, a beer garden featuring craft brewers and much more.
